This natural hot spring rises from Gebel El Tur and flows into a carved stone chamber known for its biblical significance and therapeutic benefits.
According to tradition, during the Exodus, Prophet Moses and his people rested at this spring searching for water.
An elderly woman claimed the water was undrinkable, but she lied. Moses prayed:
“Lord, if this water is suitable for drinking but we are not blessed, make it unfit to drink and bless us instead.”
From that moment, the water became unsuitable for drinking but blessed with healing properties — giving the place its name: Hammam Moussa (Moses’ Bath).
